Sturm Graz have suffered a significant setback after Seedy Jatta sustained a serious shoulder injury against LASK and underwent surgery, ruling the forward out for an extended period. Leon Grgić remains sidelined with a knee injury, while Emran Soglo is unavailable because of a hamstring problem. Niklas Geyrhofer, Szymon Włodarczyk and Axel Kayombo were not included in Sturm’s Europa League squad.
With Jatta absent, captain Otar Kiteishvili is expected to carry much of the hosts’ attacking responsibility. The Georgian scored 15 league goals last season and could be deployed as the most advanced player.
Rennes have not reported any major injury-enforced absences and named a 26-man travelling squad that includes Brice Samba, Valentin Rongier, Ludovic Blas, Mousa Al-Tamari, Estéban Lepaul and Boulaye Dia. Lepaul is expected to lead the attack after scoring 21 Ligue 1 goals last season.
