Polish champions Lech Poznań welcome Swiss title holders FC Thun to the Enea Stadion in Poznań, Poland, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, for the first leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. local time/CEST (6:00 p.m. CET) and 1:00 p.m. US Eastern Time. Lech enter the tie on a four-match winning run after dismantling KÍ Klaksvík 6-0 on aggregate, including a 5-0 away victory in a second leg delayed by severe travel disruption and fog in the Faroe Islands. Thun progressed by defeating Víkingur Reykjavík 5-3 across two legs and responded to a difficult start to their domestic campaign with a 6-0 Swiss Cup victory last weekend. Lech’s recent form, defensive record and greater European experience make them favourites to establish an advantage before the return leg in Switzerland on August 27.

Lech Poznań
Lech remain without winger Ali Gholizadeh, who is expected to be sidelined until 2027 after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Leo Bengtsson is also unavailable as he continues his recovery from a foot problem.
Midfielder Filip Jagiełło is working his way back from a muscular injury but may not be ready to start. Antoni Kozubal and Pablo Rodríguez are therefore expected to form the central-midfield partnership.
Captain Mikael Ishak should lead the attack, supported by Patrik Wålemark, Luis Palma and Allahyar Sayyadmanesh. Goalkeeper Mateusz Lis is likely to retain his position after Lech recorded three successive clean sheets.
FC Thun
Thun will be without central defender Genis Montolio, who is facing an extended absence after suffering a cruciate ligament injury. Marco Bürki and Jan Bamert should consequently continue at the heart of the defence.
Defensive midfielder Mattias Käit is also unavailable because of a muscular injury. Justin Roth is expected to replace him alongside Nassim Zoukit in central midfield.
Coach Gian-Luca Privitelli may restore several regular starters after rotating his squad for the Swiss Cup victory. Christopher Ibayi Labeau and Marc Gutbub are expected to form the attacking partnership.
