The 2026 TCS Sydney Marathon presented by ASICS takes place on Sunday, August 30, bringing more than 40,000 runners to Australia’s largest city for the event’s second edition as an Abbott World Marathon Major. Both reigning world marathon champions—Tanzania’s Alphonce Simbu and Kenya’s Peres Jepchirchir—headline what organisers describe as the strongest elite field ever assembled in Australia. The 42.195km race begins on Miller Street in North Sydney, crosses the Sydney Harbour Bridge and passes landmarks including Circular Quay and Centennial Park before finishing beside the Sydney Opera House.
