Colombia’s Ronal Longa delivered the standout performance of the 2026 Félix Sánchez Classic, scorching to a wind-assisted 9.84 seconds in the men’s 100m final on Saturday evening at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium in Santo Domingo.

The sixth edition of the meeting, staged at World Athletics Continental Tour Silver level for the first time, brought together athletes from more than 20 countries on the newly renovated track used during the recent Central American and Caribbean Games.

Longa leads four men under 10 seconds

Longa dominated a remarkably fast men’s 100m final, stopping the clock at 9.84 as four athletes broke the 10-second barrier. A following wind of 2.4m/s, just above the legal limit, prevented the performance from being ratified as a South American record.

Jamaica’s Kadrian Goldson finished second in 9.90, Ghana’s Abdul-Rasheed Saminu took third in 9.94 and American JaVonte Harding placed fourth in 9.96.

Longa had already impressed in the qualifying round, winning his heat in a legal 10.06 with a 0.6m/s tailwind. That performance broke the meeting record of 10.10 previously held by the Dominican Republic’s Alexander Ogando.

The Colombian’s official South American record remains the 9.85 he ran with a legal 1.5m/s wind in Medellín on June 26.
