Karlsruhe Indoor Meeting Results: World Leads for Hunter Bell, Mahuchikh, Stark

The INIT Indoor Meeting Karlsruhe delivered another electric Sunday (8) night of world-class athletics, highlighted by Georgia Hunter Bell’s world-leading 4:00.04 in the women’s 1500 metres, Yaroslava Mahuchikh’s 2.01m victory in the high jump, Larissa Iapichino’s 6.84m win in the long jump, and Grace Stark’s 7.86 triumph in the 60m hurdles.

Fast times, national records and personal bests fell across both track and field events, once again confirming Karlsruhe’s reputation as one of the fastest and most reliable stops on the indoor calendar.

Women’s 1500 metres

Georgia Hunter Bell, Olympic bronze medallist over 1500m in Paris and world 800m silver medallist, led from the front and controlled the race to clock a world lead of 4:00.04, narrowly missing the four-minute barrier.

Ethiopia’s Birke Haylom finished second in 4:00.88, while France’s Agathe Guillemot set a French indoor record of 4:02.12. Saron Berhe placed fourth in 4:03.55.

“I wanted to lead and practice front-running,” said Hunter Bell. “The goal was the world lead and sub-4. Two out of three — I’ll take that.”

Women’s high jump

World record holder Yaroslava Mahuchikh cleared 2.01m to secure victory in only her second competition of the year. After a miss at 1.91m, she sailed through 1.94m, 1.96m and 1.98m cleanly before clearing 2.01m on her second attempt. Three close attempts at 2.04m followed.

Compatriot Yuliya Levchenko completed a Ukrainian one-two with a season’s best 1.96m.

“I’m happy to jump over two metres again,” said Mahuchikh. “Every jump is for the people at home in Ukraine.”

Women’s long jump

Larissa Iapichino claimed her second win of the season with 6.84m in the third round, backing up her recent world lead from Ancona.

France’s Hilary Kpatcha set a season’s best of 6.73m for second, ahead of Serbia’s Milica Gardašević (6.46m). Germany’s Malaika Mihambo finished fourth with 6.45m.

“It’s early season, but I’m happy to win and compete again,” said Iapichino.

Men’s 1500 metres

France’s Azeddine Habz opened his season with a strong 3:33.36 victory.

Italy’s Federico Riva broke the Italian indoor record (3:33.94), while Belgium’s Jochem Vermeulen and Spain’s Mariano García set personal bests.

Women’s 60m hurdles

Grace Stark stormed to a commanding 7.86 season’s best in the final. France’s Laeticia Bapté and Sacha Alessandrini followed in 7.95, with Alessandrini setting a personal best.

Stark and Bapté had earlier shared the fastest heat time of 7.93.

Men’s 3000 metres

Dutch U23 champion Stefan Nillessen unleashed a late kick to win in 7:38.48, edging Kenya’s Jacob Krop (7:38.64) and Uruguay’s Valentin Soca (7:38.90). Spain’s Pol Oriach set a PB of 7:39.10.

Women’s 3000 metres

Canada’s Gabriela Debues-Stafford won in a season’s best 8:35.94, ahead of Elise Cranny and Yenawa Nbret. Six women dipped under 8:41 in a deep race.

Men’s pole vault

Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen cleared 5.84m to take victory. American Cole Walsh was second (5.78m SB), with Asian record holder Ernest John Obiena third (5.70m).

Men’s 60 metres

Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme sprinted to victory in 6.53 SB, edging Oman’s Ali Al Balushi (6.54). Germany’s Owen Ansah set a PB of 6.55 for third.

Women’s 400 metres

Puerto Rico’s Gabby Scott set a national record of 52.53. Egypt’s Bassant Hemida impressed with 51.97, while Finland’s Mette Baas won the third race in 52.43.

Men’s 800 metres

Germany’s Alexander Stepanov delighted the home crowd with a personal best 1:46.17, ahead of Kenya’s Wyclife Kinyamal and Nicholas Kiplangat Kebenei.

Men’s triple jump

Algeria’s Yasser Triki, world indoor silver medallist, won with 16.67m.
