Beşiktaş will open their UEFA Europa League campaign against Olympique de Marseille at Tüpraş Stadium in Istanbul on Thursday, September 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 p.m. local time—or 3:00 p.m. US Eastern Time. The Black Eagles have made an impressive start under Vincenzo Italiano, winning nine of their opening 11 competitive matches and all six of their home games, including five victories accompanied by clean sheets. Marseille, meanwhile, arrive under pressure after losing three consecutive Ligue 1 matches following an opening-day victory, leaving Bruno Génésio’s side searching for a response in their first European fixture of the season. The clubs previously met in the 2007–08 Champions League group stage, with each side winning its home fixture.

Beşiktaş are expected to remain without left-back Rıdvan Yılmaz, who is recovering from a thigh injury. Otherwise, Italiano has a strong squad available. Dušan Vlahović is set to return after serving a domestic suspension during the 3-0 victory over Erzurumspor. The Serbian striker had scored four goals across his previous two appearances.
Former Arsenal forward Leandro Trossard opened his Beşiktaş account against Erzurumspor and is expected to retain his position on the left side of the attack.
Marseille are likely to be without midfielders Geoffrey Kondogbia and Tochukwu Nnadi. Their absences should leave Pierre-Emile Højbjerg with a central role in midfield, while Amine Gouiri and Igor Paixão are expected to carry much of the visitors’ attacking threat.
Beşiktaş: Nübel; Murillo, Agbadou, Emirhan Topçu, Ouattara; Salih Özcan; Černý, Olaitan, Orkun Kökçü, Trossard; Vlahović.
Marseille: De Lange; Egan-Riley, Aguerd, Emerson; Weah, Højbjerg, Abdelli, Angel Gomes; Harit, Gouiri, Igor Paixão.
