The 2026 John McNichols Invitational will take place on Saturday, September 19, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana. Hosted by Indiana State University, the meeting features men’s and women’s championship and open races, with several nationally ranked NCAA Division I programs entered.
The entire meeting will be streamed live on RunnerSpace+. A paid subscription is required to watch the live coverage and on-demand replays. The live coverage is scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. E.T..

The men’s championship race features an especially strong national field, including:
BYU will return to the LaVern Gibson course for the first time since winning the 2019 NCAA Cross Country Championships there. The Cougars are expected to field their top seven runners in the championship race.
Boston College, Air Force, Butler, California Baptist, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Indiana State and Toledo are among the other programs represented across the men’s and women’s fields.
BYU sophomore Tayvon Kitchen is among the featured athletes in the men’s race, while Butler senior William Zegarski is also scheduled to compete. Northern Arizona is expected to bring another deep lineup as it begins building toward the championship portion of the season.
Purity Chepkirui, named the Mid-American Conference Women’s Runner of the Week ahead of the meeting, is expected to lead Toledo in the women’s 6K.
