Anderlecht made the perfect start to the opening leg when Cvetković struck almost immediately after kickoff. PAOK subsequently dominated possession and the shot count, but the Belgian visitors defended their lead to claim an important away victory.

New Anderlecht coach Vítor Bruno has made an encouraging start in Brussels. His team eliminated Hammarby in the previous qualifying round before defeating PAOK and opening its Belgian Pro League campaign with a stoppage-time victory over La Louvière.

Anderlecht are without Ilay Camara and Lucas Hey, who remain sidelined by injuries sustained during preseason. Midfielder Cédric Hatenboer has also been listed as unavailable.
