Elite Women’s Field

South African star Gerda Steyn, the queen of ultra-running, headlines a world-class women’s field. Defending champion Glenrose Xaba returns after smashing Steyn’s 2021 course record with her 2:22:22 run last year. She’ll face fierce competition from Kenya’s Winfridah Moseti (2:16:56), Angela Tanui (2:17:57), and Ethiopia’s Mare Dibaba (2:19:59). Steyn, a four-time Comrades and six-time Two Oceans champion, said she’s thrilled to return, calling the event “close to my heart.”

Elite Men’s Field

National record holder Elroy Gelant (2:05:36) leads the South African charge against East Africa’s best. Kenya’s Ronald Korir (2:04:22) and Bethwel Kibet (2:04:37) are the fastest on paper, with Ethiopia’s Boki Kebede Asefa (2:05:40) also in contention. With such depth, Abdisa Tola’s 2024 course record of 2:08:16 is expected to be under serious threat.
