The 42nd edition of the Athens Marathon, known as The Authentic, will take place on Sunday, November 9, 2025, celebrating the legendary route from the town of Marathon to the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens. Over 75,000 runners and spectators from around the world are expected to join this historic event, widely regarded as one of the most symbolic races in the global running calendar.
How to Watch - Live Stream
The Athens Marathon and 10 km races will be broadcast live on YouTube and Greek national television channel ERT 1, with coverage beginning at 8:30 a.m. local time.

Race Day Schedule and Course:
The Marathon race starts at 9:00 a.m. local time (07:00 GMT), following the original course of 42.195 km that retraces the steps of Pheidippides. The route features rolling hills and a challenging middle section before descending toward Athens for a spectacular finish inside the marble Panathenaic Stadium.
The weekend also includes a 10 km Road Race on Sunday morning and a 5 km Evening Race on Saturday, November 8, offering opportunities for runners of all levels. The OPAP Marathon Expo will be held from November 5–8 at the Faliro Indoor Hall, welcoming participants and visitors with race kits, sports gear, and cultural exhibits.
