The 2026 GP Diputación Castellón – XI Memorial José Antonio Cansino returns to the Gaetà Huguet Athletics Stadium in Castellón de la Plana on Wednesday, July 1, bringing together more than 300 athletes from 27 countries for one of Spain's premier World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger meetings.
The event will be streamed live for free worldwide on YouTube. The live coverage is scheduled to begin at 17:15 Central European Time (GMT +2).
Competition begins at 18:00 local time (CEST), with athletes chasing valuable World Ranking points and qualifying standards for upcoming international championships. The meeting features a strong mix of established international stars and leading Spanish athletes across the track and field program.
One of the marquee events will be the men's long jump, where eight athletes with personal bests beyond 8.00 metres are entered, including Olympic silver medalist Juan Miguel Echevarría. Spanish sprint standouts Carmen Avilés and Iñaki Cañal are also among the notable competitors, while the middle-distance races include Javier Mirón and Uganda's Tom Dradriga.
The women's events feature an impressive lineup led by long jump specialists Fátima Diame and Tessy Ebosele, alongside former Olympic and world hammer champion Yipsi Moreno. A men's U23 1,000 metres race has also been added to the schedule, with the evening concluding with the men's 3,000m steeplechase.
