The 2026 Prefontaine Classic returns to Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, on July 3–4 as the ninth stop of the Wanda Diamond League season. Held over two days for the first time, the 51st edition of the historic meeting will coincide with the United States' Fourth of July celebrations and feature many of the world's biggest track and field stars in one of the sport's premier venues.

Among the headline attractions are Olympic and world champions Faith Kipyegon, Letsile Tebogo, Rai Benjamin, Masai Russell, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Tobi Amusan, Keely Hodgkinson, and Tara Davis-Woodhall, while newly crowned men's 110m hurdles world record-holder Ja'Kobe Tharp is set for one of the most anticipated appearances of the weekend.
