Kipchirchir clocked 2.07:38 to win Valencia Marathon ahead of his teammates Gilbert Yegon (2:08:04 PB) and Abel Kirui (2:08:12), who placed second and third respectively.
The race organizers announced that this year's edition saw a record number of 19,000 runners taking part in the marathon race with sixteen of them breaking 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Kenyan Valary Jemeli Aiyabei took the women's crown in 2:24;48 destroying previous course record of 2:26:57 set by Beata Naigambo Nandjala in 2015. Kenyan Jespkosgei Kiprop finished in second place with a time of 2:25;13 as Ethiopia;'s Bethelem Moges Cherenet rounded up podium in 2:26:11.
