Kenyan distance running star Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya won the New York City half marathon in 60.50 seconds with compatriot Sally Kipyego winning the women´s race with a new course record time of 68.31.
2-time Olympic and World champion in 5000m and 10000m, Mo Farah, was also in the race, but tripped and fell down around the 10km mark making him to fall way behind the leaders. But Farah never gave up as he closed the gap between Stephen Sambu (KEN) one mile to go and managed to out-sprint the Kenyan for second. Farah clocked a time of time 61.07, while Sambu finished one second behind the Britt.
In the women's race Kenyan Sally Kipyego took a confident win with a new course record of 68.31 with Ethiopian Buzunesh Deba in second in 68.59 and American Molly Huddle in third 69.04.
