Traves Smikle, the Jamaican Discus Thrower has tested positive for banned substance. The athletes urine sample taken in June at Jamaican National Championships showed adverse analytical results.

Even though the athlete was surprised about the doping test result, he did take all the responsibility to himself.

"As an athlete, I must take responsibility for whatever is found in my body; however I wish to state that I did not knowingly or willfully ingest any banned substance," Smikle said in a statement on Thursday.

"Personally, I am very saddened and surprised by these findings, as I have never attempted to cheat and have always considered myself an ambassador for the sport and a strong supporter of drug testing."

Traves Smikle, the London Olympian, is the fourth Jamaican track and field athlete in four days who has failed dop test. Earlier this week, Asafa Powell, Olympic 4x100m relay silver medalist Sherone Simpson and discus thrower Allison Randall were confirmed failed drug test.
