The London Marathon 2025 elite fields, announced last week, promise a thrilling showdown with some of the greatest marathoners in history set to compete. One of the key highlights of the announcement is the return of Eliud Kipchoge, the former marathon world record holder, to the London course for the first time since his last appearance in 2020. Kipchoge, a two-time Olympic champion and four-time London Marathon winner, will be looking to extend his legacy on a course where he has already enjoyed immense success.
Also few days ago, the TCS London Marathon unveiled the athletes who will compete in the historic 45th edition of the event, set to take place on Sunday, April 27. The announcement confirmed the participation of all four Olympic and Paralympic champions – Sifan Hassan (NED), Tamirat Tola (ETH), Catherine Debrunner (SUI), and Marcel Hug (SUI). Defending champions Alex Mutiso (KEN) and Peres Jepchirchir (KEN) also return, alongside Ruth Chepngetich (KEN), the new women's marathon world record holder with a stunning time of 2:09:56.
