Femke Bol ran an impressive 47.93-second split leading the Netherlands to Olympic gold in the mixed 4x400m relay in Paris on Saturday.
As the reigning 400m hurdles champion, Bol took the baton from her teammate Isaya Klein Ikkink in fourth position, nearly 10 meters behind the leading American team.
The race truly became Bol's showcase as she surged past the Belgian and British teams on the final bend. She continued to close in on the American lead, reducing it to a few meters on the home stretch and overtaking American runner Kaylyn Brown just before the finish line to clinch the gold in a European record time of 3:07.43.
The Americans secured the silver with a time of 3:07.74, while the British team captured the bronze, setting a new national record of 3:08.01.
