Noah Lyles sets 150m World record with 14.67 in Ostrava

Noah Lyles delivered another memorable performance by breaking the men's 150m world record at the Ostrava Golden Spike, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, on Tuesday (16 June).
The reigning world 100m and 200m champion stormed to victory in 14.67 seconds, eclipsing the previous world record for the distance on a standard curved track of 14.92, set by Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson. The absolute fastest 150m ever recorded remains 14.35, run by Usain Bolt on a straight street track in Manchester in 2009.
South Africa's Sinesipho Dambile finished second in a national record of 14.78, while Australian teenage sensation Gout Gout clocked 14.96 for third, also a national best.
Ireland's Benjamin Richardson placed fourth in 15.14, ahead of Belgium's Simon Verherstraeten (15.17) and Germany's Joshua Hartmann (15.20), with all three athletes setting national records. Czech sprinter Ondřej Macík improved his personal best to 15.42, while Cyprus' Antonios Katsantonis completed the field in 15.77, another record.
Lyles' record-breaking performance was the highlight of the meeting and added another remarkable chapter to his already glittering sprint career.
