Cole Hocker Breaks American Indoor Mile Record with 3:45.94 at ASICS Sound Invite

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Cole Hocker delivered one of the greatest indoor mile performances in history on February 14, clocking 3:45.94 to set a new American record at the inaugural ASICS Sound Running Invite.
Racing on the fast banked oval at JDL Fast Track, Hocker surged to break the previous U.S. indoor mile record of 3:46.63 set in 2025 by Yared Nuguse. The performance also established a new North American record.
Hocker’s 3:45.94 now ranks as the second-fastest indoor mile in world history, trailing only the 3:45.14 world record held by Jakob Ingebrigtsen.
The 25-year-old is also the reigning Olympic 1500m champion, having captured gold at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a title that underscores his dominance across championship and record-setting performances alike.
The meet, organized by Sound Running, debuted as a high-performance showcase and immediately delivered world-class results, with Hocker’s record run headlining a night designed for speed.
