The Czech Indoor Gala returns to Ostrava on 3 February with one of its strongest editions ever, highlighted by a blockbuster men’s long jump clash between world champion Mattia Furlani and Olympic gold medallist Miltiadis Tentoglou.
Now in its third straight year as part of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold, the meeting has already sold out the Ostrava Atletická Hala in record time — a sign of both the meet’s prestige and the depth of this year’s fields.
Men’s Long Jump – World champions collide
Furlani opened his 2026 indoor campaign in style with a world lead of 8.33m in Paris, missing his indoor best by just four centimetres. The 20-year-old phenomenon returns to Ostrava, where he set a meeting record of 8.23m last year before going on a golden streak that included global indoor and outdoor titles.
Still only at the beginning of his career, the Italian already owns Olympic bronze, European silver and multiple Diamond League podiums.
“I’m really excited to return to Ostrava. It’s perfectly organized and the crowd is amazing,” said Furlani.
Waiting for him is Tentoglou — arguably the most consistent championship jumper of his generation. The Greek star boasts two Olympic titles, a world outdoor crown and multiple European golds. He holds the national record at 8.65m and has already won three times in Ostrava.
“Training is going well, health is good — I’ll definitely aim for my fourth win here,” Tentoglou said.
Adding depth is European indoor champion Bozhidar Saraboyukov, who edged Furlani by a single centimetre in Apeldoorn, along with Sweden’s Thobias Montler. Home hopes rest with national record holder Radek Juška and rising talent Petr Meindlschmid.
Women’s 60m – Pure speed showdown
European champion Zaynab Dosso (7.01 PB) headlines a stacked sprint field that also includes defending champion Patrizia van der Weken, Britain’s world 200m silver medallist Amy Hunt, and Czech record holder Karolína Maňasová. Expect fireworks in what could be one of the fastest indoor dashes of the season.
Middle distance stars step up
Portugal’s world 1500m champion Isaac Nader tests himself over 3000m for the first time indoors in years against Italy’s Olympic finalist Pietro Arese and a deep international lineup.
The women’s 800m features world indoor gold medallist Prudence Sekgodiso, silver medallist Nigist Getachew, and consistent contenders from across Europe and Africa.
In the 1500m, Ethiopia’s teenage sensation Birke Haylom targets the meeting record after already breaking the four-minute barrier indoors.
Throws and sprints
Olympic bronze medallist Rajindra Campbell leads the men’s shot put after throwing a world-leading 21.77m earlier this season.
The 400m races promise speed: European indoor champion Lieke Klaver heads the women’s field, while Hungary’s record-breaker Attila Molnár tops the men’s entries.
Vertical jumps and hurdles
In the women’s pole vault, Slovenia’s multiple global medallist Tina Šutej meets Czech star Amálie Švábíková.
The hurdles bring elite pedigree too, with Poland’s European champion Jakub Szymański and fellow Polish star Pia Skrzyszowska leading their respective 60m hurdles fields.
