Day 2 of the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene delivered thrilling performances across sprints, jumps, and middle-distance events. Fans at Hayward Field witnessed blazing 100m finals, intense 800m semifinals, and the conclusion of the multi-event battles in the men’s decathlon and women’s heptathlon.
Sprint Showdowns: Jefferson and Bednarek Crowned 100m Champions
Melissa Jefferson‑Wooden took the national title with a blazing 10.65 s, a time that ranks as the joint fifth-fastest in history. She pulled nearly two‑tenths clear of Kayla White, who clocked 10.84 s for second place, while Aleia Hobbs claimed bronze in 10.92 s. Twanisha Terry (10.94 s), Tamari Davis (10.97 s), Jacious Sears (11.00 s), Tamara Clark, Jenna Prandini (both 11.11 s), and English Gardner (11.17 s) rounded out the top eight.

In the men’s final, Kenny Bednarek scorched the track in 9.79 to win his first US 100m title. Courtney Lindsey (9.82) and T’Mars McCallum (9.83) took silver and bronze respectively in a tight finish.

Noah Lyles, who ran 10.05 in the heats, withdrew before the final to focus on his main event, the 200m.
Anna Hall delivered a commanding performance in the women’s heptathlon, scoring 6,899 points to secure the US title. Taliyah Brooks (6,526) and Allie Jones (6,164) completed the podium.
Vashti Cunningham claimed yet another national high jump title, clearing 1.97m ahead of Sanaa Barnes (1.94m) and Emma Gates (1.91m).
Men's Decathlon Day 2
Kyle Garland delivered a dominant performance to win the men’s decathlon at the 2025 USATF Outdoor Championships, amassing a world-class total of 8,869 points. Garland, representing Nike WCS, built his lead steadily over two days of competition and sealed the title with a strong run in the 1500m. Heath Baldwin took second place with 8,407 points, while Harrison Williams rounded out the podium in third with 8,223. Garland’s victory not only secured the national crown but also reaffirmed his status as one of the world’s premier multi-event athletes heading into the global stage.
Men's Long Jump Final
Isaac Grimes claimed the men’s long jump title with a dramatic final-round leap of 8.15 meters, his best of the season. Grimes saved his top effort for the sixth attempt, vaulting from second to first place to secure the national crown. Gregory Foster, who had led earlier in the competition, settled for second, while William Williams rounded out the podium in third.
400m and 800m Semifinal:
The men’s 800m semifinals featured a deep field and blistering times:
- Brandon Miller won his heat in 1:44.25, the fastest time of the day.
- Donavan Brazier (1:44.39), Bryce Hoppel (1:45.31), Josh Hoey (1:44.47), and Colin Sahlman (1:44.80) also secured automatic qualification.
- Time qualifiers included Isaiah Harris, Abraham Alvarado, Camden Marshall, and Isaiah Jewett.
The women’s 800m semifinals saw a flurry of sub-2-minute performances. Nia Akins led all qualifiers with a dominant 1:58.09, followed by Ajee Wilson (1:58.30) and Sage Hurta-Klecker (1:58.40). Roisin Willis (1:59.60) and Addison Wiley (1:59.71) secured spots in the final, with Raevyn Rogers and Meghan Hunter also advancing on time. The finals promise tight races with deep and competitive fields.
In the men’s 400m, Bryce Deadmon impressed with the fastest qualifying time of 44.34 seconds, while Tavon Underwood, Wil London, and Quincy Wilson were among the other top qualifiers. On the women’s side, heat wins went to Rosey Effiong, Britton Wilson, and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, with Alexis Holmes, Aaliyah Butler, and Talitha Diggs also advancing.
