Ethiopia's Dawit Wolde and Ruti Aga clinched the men's and women's titles respectively, each setting new course records at the 2025 Xiamen Marathon on Sunday, January 5th.
Wolde registered a triumphant time of two hours, six minutes, and six seconds, eclipsing the previous record of 2:06:19 set by Kenya's Moses Cheruiyot Mosop in 2015. Tebello Ramakongoana of Lesotho claimed the silver, finishing 12 seconds behind, while another Ethiopian, Asefa Boki Kebede, garnered the bronze with a time of 2:06:32.

"The course is extraordinary and delightful. We are fortunate to have participated in the Xiamen Marathon this season, and the weather was favorable. I appreciate this race for its vibrant atmosphere and meticulous organization. I will definitely return," Wolde commented.
Aga secured the women's crown with a time of 2:18:46, surpassing the previous course record of 2:19:52 set by her compatriot Mare Dibaba Hurssa in 2015. Gutemi Shone and Fikrte Wereta, also from Ethiopia, captured second and third places respectively.

The Xiamen Marathon was awarded the World Athletics Elite Platinum Label in 2021. This year's competition attracted 35,000 participants from 46 countries and regions.
