The 2026 Wings for Life World Run is set for Sunday, May 10, bringing together hundreds of thousands of runners and wheelchair participants worldwide for one of the largest global charity running events. Unlike traditional road races, the Wings for Life World Run has no finish line. Instead, participants race ahead of the moving Catcher Car, which begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start and gradually increases speed until every runner is caught.
The event will start simultaneously around the globe at 11:00 UTC, allowing runners in different countries to compete together in real time. Participants can join official Flagship Runs in major cities, take part in organized App Run Events, or run individually anywhere in the world using the official Wings for Life World Run app.
The event will be streamed live on YouTube and Servus TV, with the live coverage starting at 10:30 AM Central European Time.
What makes the event especially unique is its mission: 100 percent of entry fees and donations go directly toward spinal cord injury research through the Wings for Life Foundation. Since its launch in 2014, the event has raised more than €60 million to fund scientific projects and clinical studies aimed at finding a cure for spinal cord injuries.
Several flagship host cities have already been confirmed for 2026, including Vienna, Munich, Zadar, and Breda, with organizers expecting well over 300,000 participants globally. The official event app also allows runners to track the Virtual Catcher Car, follow friends live, monitor leaderboards, and receive race updates throughout the event.
The 2025 edition produced record-breaking participation and fundraising numbers, with Japan’s Jo Fukuda covering 71.67 kilometers to win the men’s global title, while Germany’s Esther Pfeiffer captured the women’s victory with 59.03 kilometers. Registration for the 2026 race is now open through the official Wings for Life World Run website.
