Highlights: USATF Indoor Championships 2026

The 2026 USATF Indoor Championships delivered two days of world-class competition, dramatic finishes, national records, and breakout performances as America’s best battled for national titles and World Indoor team spots at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island from February 28 to March 1. 

From razor-thin distance finishes to statement performances in the sprints and field events, the meet showcased the depth and strength of U.S. athletics across every discipline.

Distance Drama Headlines the Meet

The men’s 3000m produced one of the most thrilling finishes of the season. Cole Hocker surged late to win in 7:39.25, edging Yared Nuguse (7:39.28) and Nico Young (7:39.29) by just 0.04 seconds. The trio’s blanket finish underlined the extraordinary depth of U.S. distance running.

On the women’s side, Emily Mackay claimed the 3000m title in a championship record 8:30.01, narrowly holding off Elle St. Pierre (8:30.07) in a fierce closing sprint.

The women’s 800m saw Addison Wiley break the two-minute barrier to win gold in 1:59.43, holding off Valery Tobias (1:59.77) and Meghan Hunter (2:00.03) in a fast, tactical final.

Meanwhile, Nathan Green captured the men’s 1500m crown in 3:37.65, and teenage standout Cooper Lutkenhaus won the men’s 800m in 1:46.68.

Sprint & Hurdles Firepower

The men’s 60m hurdles final was one of the fastest races of the weekend. Dylan Beard stormed to victory in 7.37, ahead of Trey Cunningham (7.40) and Jamal Britt (7.46).

In the women’s 60m hurdles, Alia Armstrong powered to the national title in 7.82, confirming her position among the country’s elite barrier specialists.

The men’s 60m sprint crown went to Jordan Anthony in 6.45, while the women’s 60m title was secured by Jacious Sears in 7.04.

Over two laps, the 400m finals delivered high-quality performances:

  • Men’s 400m: Khaleb McRae — 45.01
  • Women’s 400m: Rosey Effiong — 51.53

Both winners controlled their finals with authority, stamping their credentials ahead of international competition.

Triple Jump & Field Event Highlights

The triple jump competitions produced standout performances on both sides.

Men’s Triple Jump: Russell Robinson claimed the national title in a competitive final.

Women’s Triple Jump: Jasmine Moore added another U.S. crown to her résumé with a commanding victory.

In the throws and vertical jumps, several statement performances lit up the field:

  • Women’s Shot Put: Chase Jackson launched a massive 20.44m, breaking the U.S. indoor record.
  • Men’s Pole Vault: Zach Bradford cleared 6.01m, joining the exclusive 6-meter club of American vaulters.
  • Women’s High Jump: Charity Hufnagel won at 1.96m, ending Vashti Cunningham’s long-standing national dominance indoors.
