Jonathan Simms storms to 44.62 indoor 400m, fourth fastest in history at Clemson Invitational

Posted by: Watch Athletics

University of Georgia freshman Jonathan Simms announced himself on the global stage with a sensational 44.62 over 400 metres indoors today, at the Clemson Invitational a performance that ranks fourth on the world all-time indoor list.

Remarkably, the run is significantly faster than his outdoor personal best of 45.44, highlighting both Simms’ exceptional indoor efficiency and his rapidly developing potential over one lap.

The world indoor record stands at 44.49, set by Canada’s Christopher Morales Williams in Lubbock on 24 February 2024, and Simms’ performance places him firmly within striking distance of that historic mark.
