Day 3 of the USATF Outdoor Championships in Eugene on Saturday delivered a thrilling showcase of elite performances, personal bests, and dominant victories, as athletes chased national titles and spots on the U.S. team for the World Championships in Tokyo.
Masai Russell Electrifies the 100m Hurdles
The women’s 100m hurdles final was one of the most explosive races of the day. Masai Russell, the 2024 Olympic champion, stormed to victory in a sensational 12.22, continuing her reign as the event’s dominant force. The second place took Grace Stark (12.31) and third-place finisher Alaysha Johnson clocked 12.36.

400m Finals: McLaughlin-Levrone and Patterson Impress
Olympic 400m champion and 400m hurdles world record holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone looked sublime in the women’s 400m final, clocking a season’s best 48.90, one of the fastest times in the world this year. Isabella Whittaker (49.59) and Aaliyah Butler (49.91) completed the podium in second and third, respectively.

Rising star Asthon Miller delivered a breakthrough performance in the men’s pole vault, clearing a lifetime best of 5.92m (19 ft 5 in) to secure victory and book his ticket to Tokyo. Veterans Sam Kendricks and Matt Ludwig rounded out the podium, both clearing 5.72m (18 ft 9 in).
Jasmine Moore Claims Triple Jump Crown
Double Olympic bronze medalist Jasmine Moore triumphed in the women’s triple jump with a best mark of 14.68m, reaffirming her place among the world’s elite.
Koech Stuns in a Deep Men’s 1500m Final
The men’s 1500m final was a tactical and fast affair, with Jonah Koech storming to victory in a personal best of 3:30.17. Ethan Strand (3:30.25 PB) and Olympic champion Cole Hocker (3:30.37) followed closely, edging out Hobbs Kessler (3:31.12) and Yared Nuguse (3:31.34) in a loaded field.
Nikki Hiltz Leads Women’s 1500m Charge
Nikki Hiltz continued their standout season by winning the women’s 1500m in 4:03.15, holding off Sinclaire Johnson (4:03.77) and Emily Mackay (4:04.38) to secure a spot on Team USA.
Halladay-Lowry and Rooks Shine in the Steeplechase
Lexy Halladay-Lowry delivered a fearless run in the women’s 3000m steeplechase, pulling away in the final laps to win in 9:09.14.
In the men’s final, defending champion Kenneth Rooks controlled the pace and closed strong to clock 8:26.58, securing another national crown.
