Former world 100m champion Yohan Blake from Jamaica took a convincing victory at the True Athletes Classics Leverkusen, a World Athletics Continental Tour – Bronze Meeting, on Saturday (29).
Yohan Blake performed well in the Men's 100m event, demonstrating his excellent speed in 2023. Clocking in at a fast 10.01 seconds, he showcased his dominance and emerged as the clear winner. However, his victory did not come without a challenge.
Jeremiah Azu, representing the United Kingdom, gave Blake a run for his money with a 10.04 mark. Azu's performance secured him second place.
Seye Ogunlewe of Nigeria also made his mark in the competition, claiming third place with a time of 10.17 seconds.
Despite his success on the track, Yohan Blake may miss the Budapest 2023 World Championship due to a false start in the Jamaica Trials.
In the Women's 100m, Briana Williams took the win with a time of 11.38 seconds, narrowly beating out Bree Masters of Australia, who came in second with 11.39 seconds. With a time of 11.53 seconds, Lisa Marie Kwayie of Germany finished third.
