Jamaica's sprint super-star Elaine Thompson-Herah will compete at the Müller Indoor Grand Prix Birmingham and Copernicus Cup later this month. Both events are part of the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Tour gold level meetings.

The 5-time Olympic champion will run the 60m dash in both meetings.

On February 19, Thompson-Herah will open her 2022 international indoor campaign at the Müller Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham, Great Britain. After that, she will head to Poland, where she will contest the Copernicus Cup in Torun on February 22.

Thompson-Heras began her 2022 season at a local meet in Kingston, Jamaica, on January 29, clocking an excellent 7.19 seconds, running into a -1.9 m/s headwind to win the 60m dash. "It feels great, new season, kicking it off with the 60m," Thompson-Herah said after the race.

The 29-year-old has not mentioned if she will contend at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships, which will take place in March in Belgrade.

The second-fastest woman of all time in the 100m (10.54) and 200m (21.53) has two World Indoor Championships appearances. In 2016 in Oregon, she took bronze, while in Birmingham in 2018, she finished in a disappointing 4th place in the 60m.

It was also announced that the World 200m champion Noah Lyles will compete in the 60m in Birmingham. He is coming off a fantastic weekend in New York, where he clocked a personal best of 6.56 to win the 60m.
