Men's and women's elite fields for the Valencia 10K Ibercaja, a World Athletics label raod race, Sunday, January 9.

The women's race is led by Ethiopia's Yalemzerf Yehualaw who split 29:45 at 10km during Valencia half marathon last year where she set the second fastest HM time in history of 63'51'. The other runner to watch out in the women's race is Kenya's Norah Jeruto Tanui a 8:53.65 3000m steeple chaser who won Diamond League last year. Tanui clocked her 10K PB of  at last year 29:51 in Valencia. If the weather is good and pacing goes according to the plan a both of these women could threaten the World best of 29:38.

The men's field features seven World class runners with personal best times under 28 minutes. Kenya's 5000m national champion Daniel Simiu Ebenyo leads the field with his PB of 27:12. Ebenyo also holds an impressive 5000m PB on the track of 12:55.88 from last year. Another high caliber runner is the European record holder Julien Wanders (27:13) of Switzerland. Wanders and several other elite runner were very late entries in Valencia after the prestigious 10k road race in Houilles, France was canceled on Thursday, just 3 days before the start of the race, because of Covid-19 spread in France. Wanders goal is to break his own European 10km record of 17:13. Also in the men's elite field are Boniface Kibiwott (KEN) and Chimdessa Debele Gudeta (ETH), both runners are well experienced road racers, who will definitely be in the mix for the win the men's race.
