Manangoi suffered from an ankle injury earlier this month and was unable to recover on time for Doha World athletics championships.
"Sad that I am not able to defend my 1500m title in Doha WC due to an ankle injury I picked in training I had no choice, it's not my fault. But GOD knows the reason why. Kenya will be represented in the men's 1500m in Doha by World leader Timoty Cheruiyot (3:28.77), Ronald Kwemoi (3:33.99 SB) and 18-year-old George Manangoi (3:31.49 PB/SB), the youngest brother of Elijah.
