The Vienna City Marathon returns on Sunday, April 19, for its 43rd edition, once again bringing world-class road racing to the heart of Austria’s capital. As a World Athletics Elite Label event, the race continues to attract a deep international field alongside tens of thousands of recreational runners, with entries for 2026 already sold out well in advance.

Renowned for its flat and fast course, the Vienna City Marathon offers ideal conditions for personal best performances. The race begins at the Reichsbrücke bridge over the Danube and winds through the city’s most iconic landmarks, including the Vienna State Opera, Schönbrunn Palace, and the historic Ringstraße, before finishing near the Burgtheater. Long straight sections—particularly through the Prater Hauptallee—allow for steady pacing, making the course one of Europe’s most runner-friendly.
