The 2026 EDP Lisbon Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, March 8, in Lisbon, Portugal, once again bringing together tens of thousands of runners for one of the most prestigious and fastest half marathon races in the world.

Organized by the Maratona Clube de Portugal, the event is part of the SuperHalfs series, which also includes the half marathons in Berlin, Prague, Copenhagen, Cardiff, and Valencia. The Lisbon race is internationally renowned for its scenic yet fast course and strong elite fields.

The EDP Lisbon Half Marathon will be streamed live worldwide for free on the RTP International. In Portugal, the race will be broadcast live on RTP1, with coverage starting at 9:15 AM local time.

The race traditionally starts at 9:30 AM local time on the iconic Ponte 25 de Abril, where runners cross the Tagus River with panoramic views of the Portuguese capital before heading along the riverfront toward the historic Belém district. The finish line is located near the Jerónimos Monastery, one of Lisbon’s most famous landmarks.

Each year, the race attracts more than 30,000 participants, including elite athletes and recreational runners from around the world. Due to its popularity, entries are highly sought after and often sell out well in advance.

Lisbon’s course has produced some of the fastest performances in half marathon history. The men’s course record stands at 57:31, set by Uganda’s Jacob Kiplimo in 2021, which was a world record at the time. The women’s course record is 1:04:21, set by Ethiopia’s Tsigie Gebreselama in 2025.

Known for its fast conditions and major prize incentives, the race has also offered significant bonuses for record-breaking performances, reinforcing its reputation as one of the premier half marathons on the global road running calendar.
