A Record-Breaking Course

Widely regarded as one of the fastest half marathon courses on the planet, Copenhagen has hosted remarkable performances in the past — including Geoffrey Kamworor’s 58:01 world record in 2019. With ideal September racing conditions and a flat city loop, organizers expect another wave of personal bests and possibly even record-breaking runs in 2025.

Star-Studded Men’s Field

This year’s men’s lineup is packed with sub-59 specialists and rising stars from Kenya and Ethiopia:

  • Gilbert Kiprotich (KEN) – burst onto the scene with a 58:27 debut win in Málaga earlier this year.
  • Patrick Mosin (KEN) – clocked 58:44 as runner-up in Málaga.
  • Isaia Kipkoech Lasoi (KEN) – ran 58:10 here in Copenhagen last year and followed up with a 58:56 in Prague this spring.
  • Gemechu Dida (ETH) – Berlin Half Marathon champion with a personal best of 58:43.
  • British contender Patrick Dever is aiming to break the one-hour barrier, while home fans will have their eyes on young Danish talent Joel Ibler Lillesø, making his half marathon debut.

Elite Women Aim for Glory

The women’s race promises an equally thrilling showdown featuring marathon stars and half marathon specialists:

  • Joyciline Jepkosgei (KEN) – winner of the Barcelona Half 2025 in 1:04:13 and bronze medallist at the London Marathon.
  • Sharon Lokedi (KEN) – reigning Boston Marathon champion (2:17:22 CR) and New York City Half winner this year.
  • Likina Amebaw (ETH) – one of the most versatile road runners of 2025 with top-5 world marks at 5K and 10K.
  • Chloé Herbiet (BEL) and Keira D’Amato (USA) add further international depth to the field.

With multiple women capable of sub-65 performances, the stage is set for a gripping race.
