The Manchester Marathon course for 2024 is confirmed to include the vibrant city center of Manchester and will pass through many of the bustling streets of Greater Manchester. Runners will start and finish near Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United Football Club, and can look forward to a route that is celebrated for being flat and conducive to personal bests (PBs). The atmosphere is expected to be electric with music, route activations, and an estimated 125,000 spectators cheering on the participants.
The course is known to be mostly flat, which aids runners in aiming for quick times. However, it's important for runners to be aware of the road conditions, which may include potholes, uneven surfaces, speed bumps, traffic islands, and cycle lane bollards. Participants should stay vigilant to avoid these potential hazards.
There are eight water stations strategically located along the course, with isotonic energy gels provided at three of these stations. Participants are encouraged to carry additional nutrition and hydration as needed, and it is recommended to stick with what they have been training with.
