The final entries for the 2025 SPAR European Cross Country Championships in Lagoa, Portugal, on Sunday, 14 December have been released.

A total of 644 athletes from 36 Member Federations are set to compete, marking the fourth time Portugal has hosted the championships.

Italy’s Nadia Battocletti will defend her senior women’s title, returning to cross country twelve months after making history as the first woman to win U20, U23 and senior European XC titles. Four of the six individual champions from the 2024 edition are entered in Lagoa.

A new men’s champion is guaranteed, however, with Jakob Ingebrigtsen opting out of the championships to focus on his build-up to the 2026 season. World 10,000m champion Jimmy Gressier has confirmed he will compete.

The senior women’s field also features Diane Van Es, Megan Keith, and former four-time champion Yasemin Can, while the mixed relay is shaping up to be highly competitive. Reigning champions Italy will face strong challenges from France, Great Britain, and host nation Portugal, led by world 1500m champion Isaac Nader and European indoor medallist Salome Afonso.
