American sprint star Sha'carri Richardson defeated Elaine Thompson-Herah in rainy and windy 100m at the Spitzen Leichtathletik Meeting in Luzern on Tuesday (30).
After blasting out from the blocks, Richardson managed to hold off the 5-time Olympic champion Thompson-Herah to win the 100m in Luzern in 11.29 (wind -2.0m/s).
It was the first race for Richardson since the USA track and field championships at the end of June, where she failed to make the team for the World Athletics Championships in Oregon.

Elsewhere, World championships silver medalist Marvin Bracy from the United States clocked 10.17 seconds in the 100m to defeat Commonwealth Games champion Ferdinand Omanyala of Kenyaby 0.01 seconds.
In the men's 400m, USA’s Bryce Deadmon ran 45.11, beating World record holder Wayde van Niekerk from South Africa (45.19).
