The 23-year-old Spaniard Husillos, surprised everyoneand himself at the Spanish indoor championships in Salamanca as he clocked a massive personal best and Spanish record of 45.92 to win the 400m final.
Husillos put himself as a possible medal contender for the upcoming European indoor Championships in Belgrade in March. The Spaniard´s mark now sits in #2 position in Europe behind the world indoor champion Pawel Maslak of Czech Republic who clocked 45.80 in Torun.
Until last year Husillos was more of a 200m runner. His personal best times were quite modest; 20.92 in 200m (2016) and only 48.86 in 400m from 2015 season. Husillos emerged as a serious 400m runner this indoor season after he produced a decent indoor personal best time of 46.73 seconds on Feb. 10 in Valencia.
