Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone Opens Her Season with 100m Hurdles and 200m Double Victory

Posted by: Watch Athletics

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, the Olympic champion and world record holder in the 400m hurdles, showcased her dominance at the Oxy Invitational on Saturday as she gears up for the U.S. Olympic Trials ahead of the Paris Games.

The 24-year-old American delivered two strong performances outside her specialty, winning the 100m hurdles in 12.71 seconds, just 0.06 seconds off her personal best from 2021. She followed this up with a wind-aided 200m victory in 22.38 seconds, assisted by a favorable breeze of 2.9 m/s.

McLaughlin-Levrone, who also secured gold in the 4x400m relay at the Tokyo Olympics, missed the World Championships in Budapest last year due to a knee injury.

In other results from Saturday's meet, American Dalilah Muhammad, the 400m hurdles silver medalist from Tokyo, clocked 53.53 seconds in the 400m. Meanwhile, Michael Norman, the 2022 400m world champion, began his season with a 400m victory in 44.21 seconds.
