Miller-Uibo impresses with 200m World Lead in Florida

Shaunae Miller-Uibo opened her 2021 outdoor season with an impressive 200m world lead at the Pure Athletics Spring Invitational in Clermont Florida on Sunday, April 4.

The Bahamian sprint superstar, clocked 22.03 (w +1.5m/s) beating the previous world lead of 22.17 by Gabrielle Thomas by 0.14 seconds. Miller-Uibo finished more than half a second ahead of 2nd place finisher Quanera Hayne by 22.68. and third-place finisher Lynna Irby (22.75).

In the men's 200m a 17-year-old Erriyon Knighton made his professional athlete debut, running a wind-legal 20.31 (+1.7) seconds to win the event. His time is the #2 all-time on junior U18 World all-time lists behind Usain Bolts' 20.13 (0.0 m/s).

Elsewhere, Fred Kerly, a 400m specialist from the United States, sped to a 100m victory in a new personal best time of 10.03 seconds.

In the men's 200m, Erriyon Knighton won the race in 20.31.

In the men's 400m, Matthew Hudson-Smith clocked 45.51 for the win. Jamaica's Akeem Bloomfield ran a solid 45.78 to finish second.
