Erriyon Knighton clocked an amazing 19.49 seconds wind-legal (1.4 m/s) and set a new World U20 record in the 200m and the fourth-fastest time ever at the LSU Invitational on Saturday.
The 18-year-old Knighton smashed his own World U20 record after running 19.84 during the 2021 season. Until last year Usain Bolt held the U20 record with 19.93 sec.
His time is only ranked behind legendary Usain Bolt’s 19.19-second world record, Yohan Blake’s 19.26 and Michael Johnson’s 19.32 American record on the World all-time world list.
