Craig Engels trafficked through on the home stretch to win the race in a new PB of 3:33.64. But the main story in this race was Hobbs Kessler who became the fastest American high schooler finishing 5th in a stacked men's 1500m race with an insane 3:34.36, to break Alan Webb's US HS record of 3:38.1 by 4 seconds. His 3:34.36 is also inside the 3:35 Tokyo Olympics qualifying standard.
