A freshman Sha’Carri Richardson from Luisiana State University crushed the World U-20 record of 10.88 that had stood since 1977 . Her 10.75 performance moved her into a tie as the ninth-best performer in the history of the event, regardless of age.
Richardson also broke a 30-year-old Dawn Sowell's of LSU, 10.78 collegiate record by 0.03 seconds.
