Blessed with perfect racing conditions—cool and sunny—Mengesha clocked in at 2:03:17, the third fastest time worldwide this year. Ketema led the women's field, finishing in 2:16:42, which stands as the third fastest time in the race's half-century history. The landmark edition of the marathon attracted 58,212 runners from 161 countries.
