The 73rd Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Japan. The race will commence at 12:00 PM, starting from Takasakiyama Umitamago and concluding at J-Lease Stadium.

The event will be streamed live for free worldwide on YouTube, with the live broadcast starting at 11:50 AM local time (GMT +9).
ELITE RUNNERS:
The Beppu-Oita Mainichi Marathon elite race is set for an intriguing showdown. Japanese runner, Kiyoto Hirabayashi, is making his second marathon appearance after a stellar 2:06:18 debut victory at last year’s Osaka Marathon. Opting for Beppu-Oita was a strategic decision by his coach Yasuhiro Maeda to keep the pressure low.
Hirabayashi will face stiff competition from Kenya’s Vincent Kipchumba, the fastest entrant with a 2:04:28 PB from the 2021 London Marathon. Japan’s Shohei Otsuka (2:06:57 PB) looks like a solid contender, while defending champion Derese Workneh and fellow Ethiopian Tesfahun Akalnew could be factors if the race unfolds at a slightly slower pace.
