The 2026 Asta in Piazza Aosta pole vault meeting takes place on Saturday, August 22, in Piazza Émile Chanoux in central Aosta, Italy. The city-centre competition is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Challenger series. It is the 13th overall edition of the popular street-vault event.

Men’s field

Former world record-holder and 2012 Olympic champion Renaud Lavillenie headlines the men’s competition. The Frenchman will compete and also serve as the meeting’s honorary ambassador.

Lavillenie faces Ukraine’s Oleksandr Onufriyev, who recently finished fifth in the men’s pole vault final at the European Athletics Championships in Birmingham. Both have cleared 5.70m this season, putting Giuseppe Gibilisco’s meeting record of 5.72m within reach.

Swiss champion Justin Fournier, a late addition to the field following his appearance at the European Championships, strengthens the competition. Young Italians Mattia Beda and Bright Chukwudi Osegbo complete the revised lineup.

Women’s field

Defending champion Maryna Kylypko returns after winning the 2025 competition. The Ukrainian will face a strong Italian group featuring Sonia Malavisi, Great Nnachi and Maria Roberta Gherca, along with Germany’s Sarah Franziska Vogel.

Malavisi owns the best 2026 mark in the field at 4.50m, while Kylypko has the strongest lifetime best at 4.70m. The women’s meeting record is 4.72m.
