Ghana
Ghana have suffered a major setback with experienced midfielder Thomas Partey unavailable after a Canadian court upheld the decision to deny him entry into the country. Head coach Carlos Queiroz insisted the Black Stars are fully focused on the players available and believes his side has the pace and individual quality to overcome Panama despite the absence of one of their most influential players. Ghana are also without Mohammed Kudus, who was ruled out of the tournament through injury before the squad was announced, leaving Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo and Iñaki Williams to shoulder the attacking responsibility.
Panama
Panama arrive at their second World Cup determined to make history by earning their first-ever victory at the finals. Head coach Thomas Christiansen has built a well-organized side around captain Aníbal Godoy, experienced defender Éric Davis, right wing-back Amir Murillo and in-form forwards Ismael Díaz and Cecilio Waterman. Midfielder Adalberto Carrasquilla has been recovering from a fitness issue and is not expected to start, although he could feature later in the group stage.
