The 2026 Don Kirby Twilight is set for Friday, April 24, at the University of New Mexico Track & Field Complex in Albuquerque, bringing together a competitive field of collegiate athletes for one of the final meets before the NCAA championship season.

Hosted by the University of New Mexico, the meet plays a key role in the late-season calendar, offering athletes a valuable opportunity to chase qualifying marks and sharpen their form ahead of conference championships and NCAA preliminary rounds. Positioned after major West Coast competitions, the Don Kirby Twilight often serves as a last-chance meet for many programs.

The event follows a traditional “twilight” format, with select distance races earlier in the day and the main program unfolding in the evening under the lights. This structure is designed to maximize performance conditions, particularly for distance runners.

Held at approximately 1,500 meters above sea level, Albuquerque’s altitude adds a strategic element, with performances eligible for NCAA altitude conversions—making the meet especially attractive for athletes targeting qualifying standards.
