The 2026 European Athletics Throwing Cup will take place on March 14–15 in Nicosia, Cyprus, bringing together many of the continent’s leading specialists in the shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, and javelin throw for one of the first major international competitions of the outdoor season. The event will be staged at the GSP National Stadium, where hundreds of athletes from across Europe are expected to compete in both senior and U23 categories.

The event will be streamed live and free worldwide on the European Athletics website and its YouTube Channel. The live coverage on Saturday and Sunday will start at 9:00 AM Central European Time.

Now a long-standing fixture on the European athletics calendar, the Throwing Cup provides an early-season benchmark for elite throwers preparing for the major championships later in the year. Approximately 287 athletes are expected to participate, representing national teams from across the continent and competing not only for individual titles but also for team standings based on combined performances.

Several prominent international names headline the 2026 edition. Among the top contenders are Italian shot put star Leonardo Fabbri, world hammer medalist Bence Halász, rising German hammer thrower Merlin Hummel, Ukrainian hammer standout Mykhaylo Kokhan, and Serbia’s exceptional young javelin thrower Adriana Vilagoš, one of Europe’s brightest talents in the discipline. Their participation ensures high-quality competition across all four throwing events.
