The 2026 English Schools’ Athletic Association (ESAA) Cross Country Championships will take place on Saturday, March 14, at Sefton Park in Liverpool, bringing together the best young distance runners from across England for one of the most prestigious school competitions in the country.
Widely regarded as the highest level of school cross-country racing in England, the championships feature athletes selected to represent their counties following qualifying races earlier in the winter season. Each of England’s counties sends teams to compete for both individual titles and the coveted county team trophies, creating a highly competitive national showcase for emerging talent.

The championship programme includes races across six age categories:
- Junior Boys – 3,100-3,500 metres
- Intermediate Boys – 4,500 – 5,000 metres
- Senior Boys – 6,000 – 6,500 metres
- Junior Girls – 3,100 – 3,500 metres
- Intermediate Girls – 3,500 – 4,000 metres
- Senior Girls – 3,500 – 4,500 metres
