The 2026 Dubai Marathon returns this Sunday, February 1, bringing one of the world’s quickest road courses back to the streets of the UAE for another early-morning showdown of elite racing and mass participation.
The action begins before sunrise, with the elite marathon getting underway at 5:45 a.m. (GST), followed by the mass marathon at 6:30 a.m. The popular 10K starts at 8:00 a.m., and the 4K Fun Run rounds out the programme later in the morning.
The event will be streamed live on the Dubai Marathon YouTube channel for free worldwide. The live coverage is scheduled to start at 5:30 am local time (GMT +4).
The men’s start list features several proven sub-2:06 performers, headlined by Ethiopia’s Gadisa Birhanu, Berehanu Tsegu, and Abera Kuma, alongside Kenya’s Eric Kiptanui, setting the stage for a tactical yet potentially very quick race if conditions stay cool.
The women’s field is equally competitive, with Fantu Worku, Anchinalu Dessie, Tigst Getnet, Sofia Assefa, and Abebech Afework all capable of challenging the podium in what could become one of the fastest women’s races of the season.
As always, Dubai’s famously flat and fast layout promises ideal conditions for personal bests. The route starts near Madinat Jumeirah, sweeps along long beachfront roads past the iconic Burj Al Arab, and finishes at the Dubai Police Academy—a design that has historically produced sub-2:05 performances and deep international fields.
